The Big Upset
Now that the Eastern Conference Finals are behind us, and the Cavs have been eliminated. I feel its time for me to reflect on this surprising upset. Unlike most I must admit,I saw it all coming. Dating back to the regular season during our chase to obtain the league's best record. I noticed something a little different about the teams chemistry. The players seemed much closer than usual. Besides the normal chest bumps and high fives, the team created a new pre-game celebration that changed with each game. My personal favorite was when the team posed for Lebron to take a picture with his imaginary camera. The skits became more entertaining as the season went on.It was great to see the players getting along well. They were focused on the court, and more importantly they were winning plenty of ball games. That's where things began to go wrong in my opinion. The more victories the team racked up, the more their confidence rose. Even to a point where many felt the Cavs were a clear lock for the NBA Finals. I feel this level of confidence is what helped the Cavs during the regular season, but then hurt them in the playoffs. Especially if you consider how we swept our first and second round opponents only to be shut out by the Orlando Magic. None the less, the Cavs should have been humbled that their road to the Eastern Conference Finals had been fairly easy. It wasn't as if they had won any championships before. Besides, Cleveland teams are known for choking in big game situations. Which is why I feel Cleveland's loss to Orlando is more credited to the Cavs being over confident, unprepared, and out-matched.
